Just this year, more than 75,000 women were diagnosed with uterine, ovarian, or cervical cancer. On November 15, 2007, Congress failed to overturn President Bush's veto of the combined 2008 Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations bill. As of right now, the appropriation of $6.75 million towards the Gynecologic Cancer Education and Awareness Act is dead, as many women will be if Congress doesn't ensure funding for this bill in 2008.

Funding for Johanna's Law provides the Center for Disease Control ("CDC") the ability to launch a national comprehensive educational campaign about the early warning signs of gynecologic cancers. Believe it or not, this is first bill of its kind in women's health history! So, we can't afford to kiss this funding goodbye. Too many women's lives are at stake.

Urge Congress and the President to appropriate the full $6.75 million under the Gynecologic Cancer Education and Awareness Act to educate women about the early warning signs of gynecologic cancers.

Early detection equals survival. What we don't know is killing us!
