On December 26, 2007, President Bush signed an Omnibus spending bill that appropriated $6.5 million towards Johanna's Law, allowing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to launch a national campaign to educate American women and health professionals about the signs and symptoms of gynecologic cancers.

I wrote this poem for my dog, Chester, whom I lost the same year that I lost my uterus. Double whammy. As Shakespeare said, "When tragedy hits, it does not come alone, but in batallions!"
