Labels for Love, Inc. is a charity that stages fashionable events to raise funds for and bring awareness to women’s and children’s charities.
LFL was founded by Mary Schmidt Amons in 2006 to produce fashionable events to raise funds and awareness for the foundation’s chosen local and national women’s and children’s causes. Mary is a staple on the Washington scene and last year made her debut as a cast member of Bravo’s Real Housewives of DC. But I am sure you already knew that unless you have been living under a rock.
I most recently interviewed Mary at the White House Correspondents Dinner Capitol File After Party, who was so excited to tell me all about this year’s Modus Union Fashion Show. And trust me this year’s show will not disappoint.

Markette interviewed Mary at the Real Housewives of D.C. premiere party held at Buddah Bar and we both agreed that Mary was the most down to earth of all the “housewives.”

In a city of money and power Mrs. Amons seems to be the least concerned about either and is a true philanthropist at heart. Each year, Labels for Love selects one children’s and one women’s organization to focus its efforts. This year the show will benefit Cancer Scmancher.
Fran Drescher will be giving a presentation at this year’s event and talking about her survival story of how she beat uterine cancer.
“I got famous, then I got cancer, and now I live to talk about it. Sometimes the best gifts come in the ugliest packages. Please lock elbows with me and join the Cancer Schmancer Movement so together we can do what needs to be done, so less of us will die prematurely.”
Ever since her diagnosis, Fran has been on a life mission to improve women’s healthcare in America. Her book Cancer Schmancer was a New York Times Best Seller which she penned back in 2002. A highly motivational and inspirational memoir that every woman MUST read!
