If I've never been very active, how do I start?

First and foremost, listen to your body and always speak with your physician before beginning an exercise program.  Check in with yourself before starting an exercise to see how you're feeling.  Consider if you notice any aches & pains, your energy level, take an overall assessment from head to toe.  Walking is one of the best forms of exercise and a great place to start.  You can even begin with 2, 15 minute walks per day if 30 all at once seems overwhelming.  Start slowly to warm up and slow down your walk to cool down about 5 minutes before finishing.  Stretch without bouncing after you've warmed up and at the end of your walk.  Check out the American College of Sports Medicine for more information http://www.acsm.org/AM/Template.cfm?Section=General_Public [1]
