Breast Cancer Survivor
My story started out on normal day when my husband ask me was it time for my yearly mammogram and I kind of blew him off, because I didn't want to go have one done. But he wouldn't let it go. So later on that day I called my doctor to set up an appointment for me. I went that following week.
So the nurse took me in the room and gave me an ultrasound test first. And she told me to wait in the waiting room until the doctor read the film. Then she came for me and said that I needed to have another type of test. That's when I knew something was wrong. She told me to get dressed and they would be in touch with me. Now after all of that how in the world are you suppose to go home and relax?
So my doctor called and said that I have stage one breast cancer and to come in. I went to see my surgeon and I had surgery on my right breast. They remove the lump and tested four of my lymph nodes and they were negative. Thank God! Now the big fight begin. My family and I became strong and educated about what I was getting ready to go through.
I had six round of hard chemo and radiation. Which is a fight on it's own. But I can proudly say I am a ten year survivor. Just think if my husband had not kept riding me about my mammogram I would not be here today. I would not be here to have seen my beautiful granddaughter Lanila, who is the biggest gift God ever gave me other than my family and my husband, Donald. So please, take care of yourself and thank you for reading my story!
