Uterine Cancer Survivor

I had gone through menopause pretty early and hadn't had periods for quite some time. I went through about a month of being very emotional and nutsy, then started light spotting every few days. I knew that this was not normal after menopause and told my family physician, who referred me to an OBGYN. The doctor scheduled me for a D & C after our initial appointment.

The diagnosis: Endometrial/Uterine Cancer. It was in the very early stages. My doctor was great and we scheduled a complete hysterectomy. That was in 2006. My every-six-month PAPs have been perfect. Knowing my own body and communicating with my doctor was my life saver. Every woman needs to know her own body. If something is different or doesn't seem right, talk to your doctor.
