I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 1978...i was 22 and totally freaked out altho the diagnosis wasn't confirmed until I had the actual surgery. Fortunately the tumor was encased in the thyroid so they just removed 3/4 of it. No chemo or radiation was necessary. I was put on synthroid and didn't have any problem with the meds as I've heard sometimes it takes a while to get regulated. My meds have been upped since I became perimenopausal, ugh :) but things have worked out. Once a year my levels are checked and so far so good. Blessing to anyone that is or has gone through cancer.....
