Uterine Cancer Survivor

Hi my name is Maria and in September 2010 I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Endometiral Cancer. I had suffered for years with very painful and heavy periods. In January 2010 I had an uterine ablation hoping that would help. However, not only did it not work but my periods were worse and I was taking painkillers for the severe pain. Finally, in August my doctor agreed that the next step would be to remove the uterus. After a sonogram showing no fibroid or mass I had surgery to remove the uterus and part of the cervix. I had 2 c-sections with my children so because of the amount of scar tissue and excessive bleeding only part of the cervix was removed. The next day, my doctor came to my room and told me that he was totally shocked that the pathology report came back that I had cancer in the lining. He made an appointment for me to meet with an oncologist the day after I was released from the hospital. My oncologist said that we would have to wait until I was totally healed from this surgery until I could have the next one to remove the remainder of my cervix and to remove my ovaries. My surgery was scheduled for January 5, 2011. The surgery was 5 1/2 hours, I needed a transfusion, and because of all the scar tissue I had some problems with my bladder and ureter. But the good news is that on January 5, 2012 I can say that I am 1 YEAR CANCER FREE!!!. My advise is if you feel that something is not right with your body, keep, keep, keep going at your dr. till they run every test, and go down every avenue. No one knows your body better than you:-)

Houses and cars are quite expensive and not everyone can buy it. However, mortgage loans are invented to aid different people in such kind of cases.

I guess that to receive the home loans from banks you ought to present a good reason. However, once I have received a student loan, just because I was willing to buy a bike.
You're absolutely right when
You're absolutely right when you said to be more alert to the signals that our bodies send us. Way back in 2005,I noticed my stomach getting bigger but I didn't pay notice;attributing the change to my love for eating. However,on Dec.2011 I was diagnosed with Stage3a ovarian cancer in the right ovary and immediately had surgery to remove the malignant tumor.Lo!and behold, I had also 3 myoma and the left ovary too had a benign tumor. After surgery the ob-gyne told me to rest and that after I am to undergo 6 chemo sessions. However, the pathologist's report on my the surrounding organs yielded negative for cancer. Still doubtful,I had a CA125 test and other pertinent lab tests just to ascertain if indeed I need chemo treatment. All tests yielded normal readings so I'm deferring the sessions until April. But of course, Lab tests first will have to be done once again (as I wouldn't want to mess up my body with chemo if the results are normal).
I can't say yet that I'm a survivor but I am doing things The Fran Drescher way!

Hello Mrs/Miss Maria S.:
I am Rodrigo and I write from Brazil...
I found your story after being in this site (after looking for things about the great FRAN DRESCHER!).
I read your situation/story - strong/touchable; I hope (and WANT!) you are okay (of cured... MUCH BETTER!).
This ilness is one of the worst that exists... I wish doctors/science discover a cure for it!
Well, preventing is the best alternative: until now.
I had people in my family who died of this kind of cancer (grandma/aunts)...
About me: I try to protect myself as I can; use sunblock even when I walk on the streets/eat healthy things/don´t smoke or drink; after I became vegetarian I think my life is better!
I finish here. Lots of luck (I hope in the last sentences you mentioned you are right).
Thanks,
Rodrigo O. Rosa

Endometrial cancer
Hi Maria,
I am so glad to hear that you are a survivor of endometrial cancer! I am also a survivor of endometrial cancer...You can read my Survivor Story here under my name Moira M. I totally agree with your great advice to check and keep checking with your doctor when you feel that there is something wrong...I went through a similar situation, and I am glad to say that now I am a 5 year survivor of endometrial cancer! All the best to you, Maria! Good health always!
About your doctors
Always listen to your body and explain to your doctor in more words than "it hurts" but while you are in that pain study and think how it really feels and the locations, how it "moves" and write it down! NEVER rely om your memory when telling your symptoms because and I hate to say this but the insurance companies dictate how much time they can spend with you that having it written or typed will help more than you can think! This way when you tell your doctor and the answers are not helping then go to another doctor! ALWAYS get a 2nd opinion because your PCP will NOT mind and should recommended you to do just that!
Pelvic Pain
Hello,
I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on the symptoms I have been having for over a year? I have been off work now for over a month with severe pelvic pain. I have been taking painkillers constantly. I am bloated, I look like I am at least 6 months pregnant. I have to "pee" constantly, I have night sweats and spotting and extreme pelvic pressure. I finally got in to see a gyne. She suggested a uterine biopsy. Most recently the pain has now continued to my legs. I had the biopsy done last Friday and have to wait for 3 weeks for the results. I feel like I have been abdoned by the healthcare community and basically ignored. I have had to push to get anything done. I have spent countless hours in emerg. over the last year and have been sent home everytime. My MRI shows an enlarged uterus and several big fibroids. I told my gyne my grandmother died of uterine cancer in her thirties but she had no comment at all, in fact she just brushed it off. I can't go to work, or much less do a load of laundry. I am 40 years old and just want my life back!
