Melanoma Survivor
I am 26 years old and a mother of three and I noticed a mole on my ankle which was getting bigger, I was getting nervous about it so I went to the dematologist and he said that it definitly looked like melanoma and they did a biopsy, and a week later he called and told me it was for sure melanoma and that it had spred deeper into the epidermes. I was so stunned, I thought things like this don't happen to me, but there I was sitting there thinking I could be in serious trouble, and stressing about all the what if's! My doctor scheduled surgery a week later and they removed more skin around the original mole and three lymph nodes one behind my knee and two in my groin. After the surgery, the pathology report came back negative for cancer. I caught it before it spread! I am so grateful for all the support and help I recieved during this time. I am now scheduled to go in every four months for two years to check for other suspicious moles, but I am glad to do it. If you notice something out of the ordinary, please please check it, better safe then sorry.

melanoma
I was 43 when I was diagnosed with melanoma from a mole on my back. All the initial tests cam back negative. A year late the lymph nodes under my left arm started to swell. Sure enough, the cancer was back. I have to endure 2 more surgeries and 164 Interferon treatments. I am six months off of treatment, PET scan showed no cancer, and I have started back to work. The treatment is brutal, but can be done and you can survive!!!
