Dandelion & Thyme Tea

When the filter in your car is dirty, it must be changed. So the filter in our body needs to be cleaned occasionally, too. The organs that serve as filters (kidneys, liver, lungs, colon) get dirty over time. This makes them increasingly less effective and stressed with a hefty workload creating an environment for  disease. That's why it's important to flush these filters out regularly by using the following herbs and plants that scrub the toxins from your liver, lungs, kidneys, and skin.

  • Milk thistle Is a flavonoid called silymarin, wich is potent antioxidant. Milk thistle may protect liver cells by preventing and removing toxins. It can also regenerate injured liver cells.
  • Boldo Is used as a form of medicine, that help the flow of bile that collects in the gallbladder.  It also calm upset stomach, removes blood impurities, which accumulate due to malfunction of the kidneys or liver.
  • Horse Tail has traditionally been used as a folk remedy for kidney and bladder troubles, arthritis, bleeding ulcers, and tuberculosis. Topically, horsetail was used to stop the bleeding of wounds and to promote rapid healing.. The flavonoids and saponins act as diuretics, and the silicon helps strengthen connective tissue and relieve arthritis.
  • Thyme is known as an herb normally used in cooking, however thyme was used by Hildegard of Bingen for nerve disorders, comfort the stomach by reducing intestinal gas.
  • Gordolobo herb that have been used for centuries in Mexico and other Latin American countries, to treat bronchial asthma and coughs.
  • Dandelion was valued as a remedy in India for the liver. It is also been used for swelling, water retention. Dandelion is known to stimulate bile flow and has a mild diuretic effect.

l recommend doing your research about these herbs, and using your own judgment as to which are most benefiicial to your particular needs. I personally love them in soups and teas or mixing them with my beloved almond milk. It's also helpful to combine this with warm salt water baths to expel waste through the pores of your skin. I also encourage you to adapt a vegetarian life style. Below is one of my favorite detox tea recipes.
