Guess what? The Early Detection Fran Vans have officially launched! Cancer Schmancer's partnership with Inner Images Inc., one of the leading sources of cancer screening tests in California, will provide low income, uninsured women in Los Angeles with free cancer screenings and gynecologic cancer educational materials.
And let me tell ya, this is just the beginning! We've also begun an exciting partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to provide a similar service in my hometown of New York and we plan to bring Fran Vans to communities from coast to coast.
But as the economy weakens and more people go without health insurance, low-income women in at least 20 states are being turned away or put on long waiting lists for free cancer screenings. Now more than ever, we must galvanize and be the force that advocates for early detection and availability of screening tests.
As a member of the Cancer Schmancer Movement, you have played a vital role in helping us get where we are today. But there is still much work ahead of us. We desperately need your continued support securing funds in order to bring Cancer Schmancer's mission and the Fran Vans to towns all across the U.S.
Low-income, uninsured women depend on us for their very lives, but we can't succeed without your help.
