The TV star learned the importance of early detection the hard way

by Fran Drescher

Hiya, dolls!

You may know me as "The Nanny," but what you may not know is that I'm a uterine cancer survivor who took two years and eight doctors before finally being properly diagnosed. I was lucky that I was still in Stage 1, and that I'm alive today but I got to thinking: We need to wake up! We don't know enough about our risk factors, our family histories, or the questions we should be asking our physicians. Of course we want and need a cure for cancer. And God willing, it will come! But what can we do now? My organization, Cancer Schmancer, focuses on educating women so we can save lives TODAY through prevention and early detection of cancer.

I’m so thrilled and honored that Cancer Schmancer has teamed up with the wonderful Grandparents.com community. I encourage you to log on to www.CancerSchmancer.org and sign up for our free newsletter so you can learn how to take control of your body and your health.

And I’ll make you a deal, darlin': If you sign up between August 16 and September 3, you'll be entered to win a free Cancer Schmancer T-shirt. Just visit our site and click the "Sign up for our newsletter" tab.

Together, we will save lives TODAY!

Fran
