As an ovarian cancer patient, I first learned of Cancer Schmancer and was inspired to fight through the extensive post-surgical period and the brutal IV and IP treatments. I advise people to spread their support net wide and gather as much information and encouragement as possible. Now more than a year since treatment, with no recurrence and a normal CA-125 for the past year, I continue to fight against ovarian cancer by co-sponsoring a Talk Out Loud support group and passing the word about early detection and treatment. Cancer Schmancer was my first link to such support ... and in respect to this Foundation, we Sister Survivors continue to pay it forward. - K Seward
Testimonials
I am the sister of a cancer survivor. When my sister was diagnosed, I learned that there were no early tests for Ovarian Cancer. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I questioned my doctors, I called the onocology department of my local hospital. Everywhere I was met with the same response - there are no early tests for Ovarian Cancer. Talking with my friends, many of them were surprised to hear the same information. Can you imagine how horrible it is to realize a whole community of people without information? We sit at the brink of an information revolution and there is no info out there unless you are like me and have to learn about cancer because someone you love is diagnosed. Cancer Schmancer is the only organization that I have been able to find that addresses the issue of early testing for all cancers. When early testing is figured out, everyone in our communities will benefit; women, men and children -Marti
Cancer Schmancer is such a great organization. As women we tend to overlook our own needs and focus on others. This organization helps bring the focus on women and their bodies because as Fran says "You will not be able to help your family if you are ten feet under" - Ashly
